Waldorf Chef's Table
NEW YORK'S MOST EXCLUSIVE RESTAURANT...

An exclusive dining venue in the heart of The Waldorf’s main kitchen, Doherty and his team of chefs and cooks take to the stove preparing elaborate, multi-course dinners for up to 30 guests. Formerly available only to special guests, royalty and the like, the moveable feasts are now open to the public. The highly successful Chef's Tables have also become a testing ground for Doherty’s creativity, where dishes that may be one day served to the President or appear on a future menu are featured.

The Chef's Table is paused over the summer as the kitchen gets very hot. Please call 212-872-1275 for fall 2008 availabilities.  Price per person is $150 plus tax and gratuity.

From The Chef's Kitchen
Event Description
Join Executive Chef John Doherty for a private dinner in a reserved area of the hotel kitchen, magically transformed into an elegant dining tableau. With his culinary team he will assemble hors d'oeuvres for you during a champagne reception and then dazzle your senses through the main course. The menu includes new dishes that he has developed with his chefs, but have not yet been placed on a menu. That approach, and the chance to swap secrets with a world-renowned chef, is what makes The Chef's Table soirées so popular.
Executive Chef John Doherty
Graduated from at the Culinary Institute of America, Doherty was named Executive Chef at The Waldorf=Astoria when he turned 27 in 1985, making him the youngest person ever named to the position of Executive Chef in the New York landmark's notable history. Today, 20 years after his appointment to the post, the passionate, affable culinary leader holds the distinction of having cooked for more presidents, royalty and heads-of-state than any other chef in the country. He began in the hotel’s kitchen as an intern at age 19 and worked his way to the top.
The Waldorf=Astoria Cookbook
In the fall of 2006, The Waldorf=Astoria’s Executive Chef John Doherty unveiled his first-ever cookbook. Emulating the elegant, iconic New York landmark hotel where Doherty has been top toque since 1985, the cookbook features 120 recipes and opens the doors to the famed hotel’s contemporary kitchens, providing the home cook with the secrets behind the world-class meals offered in the hotel’s private suites, ballrooms, restaurants, bars, and via room service.
Distinctly Waldorf - The Hotel Gift Collection
For gastronomes, culinary collectors, historians, and fans of the hotel, The Waldorf=Astoria designed Distinctly Waldorf, the hotel's gift collection.  Each of these signature commemorative treasures reflects the finest craftsmanship and attention to detail. Choose from a unique collection of elegant knife sets to a combination of the kitchen brigade outfits. Every culinary item is either a personal, a function favorite or was selected by the hotel chefs for use in the hotel's kitchens. We hope you enjoy them many years to come.
